e-Adventure Tiles Weekly No. 1

e-Adventure Tiles Weekly 1 features quasi-modular tiles for four encounter areas: a dungeon prison, an alchemy shop, a vermin nest, and a desert shrine.

THE GOOD: Everything about this product shines. The artwork is crisp, vivid, and flavorful. This installment definitely keeps up the SkeletonKey tradition of high visual quality. Moreover, each encounter area suggests interesting story ideas.

THE BAD: The alchemist's home, attached to his shop, needs a privy. I mean, really. He's an alchemist. He could even have a waterless toilet.

THE UGLY: In a SkeletonKey Games product? Are you kidding?

BUYING ADVICE: Pair Weekly No. 1 with Dungeon Details Vol. 3, which includes a torture chamber (perfect companion to the prison in Weekly No. 1) and a forgotten lab (which could be secreted under the not-so-benign-after-all alchemist's shop).

Ed's stuff is simply the best out there! I have a lot of his sets, but I can always work with more!

The "weekly" idea seems a long time coming...and something I'll look forward to. The greatest asset, I feel that this type of concept is variety. This is kind of a something-for-everyone idea...like a mini sampler...which not only adds to your existing tilesets, but allows you to try new ones. Couple this with the free bonus tiles that are available through the SkeletonKeyGames website and you can try out any set, then buy the larger ones of what you really like.

As the other reviewer stated, this also allows users of the Adventure Town to begin to flesh out their shops and such...something I really like and have been looking forward to for a while!

Thanks for another great idea and great product!

This set is good news. First, it heralds a new type of tiles sets, the "Weekly", which at first may sound like a gap-filler for weeks without a "regular" release, but once you see the actual tiles, you realize this is absolutely stunning! A week without a fully-fledged tile set? Hey, let's grab a beautifully designed low-price set instead that adds fully detailed encounter areas to your existing SKG sets! Sounds like a good thing, and it is! Second, the artwork is outstanding, with a depth of detail that rivals the best sets in SKGs range, being the Adventure Town, Cartophile and [Dungeon/Cave/...] Details sets.

Liked: Finally owners of Adventure Town sets can start to stock their bustling cities with shops. The alchemist makes a start. This first issue of e-Adventure Tiles Weekly contains stuff for 4 different types of tiles, so everybody will find something useful.

Disliked: Nothing. I don't own desert tiles, and maybe someone else doesn't own Adenture Town, so one might find some of the tiles useless, but it's always good to have something with added detail at hand. You can always just put it on a blank battlegrid to create an exciting ad-hoc encounter area, can't you?

Full score for this one! I've got my new favourite series.

If you like the Adventure Town tiles then next week will be a winner for you as well. Three more tiles detailing a fence (of stolen goods, not the picket variety) and a fortune teller are ready to go and can be customized with the tiles from Weekly No. 1.
