Esper Genesis 5E Sci-fi - Core Manual
Publisher: Alligator Alley Entertainment
by Linda W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/21/2018 03:59:29

I played a couple games using this setting and I was impressed by how refreshingly different it felt from standard D&D stuff, while retaining the accessibility and flexibility of the D&D 5e rules system. The writing flows well and is incredibly cohesive, and the artwork and layout are pretty great. The art is arguably a lot better than other sci-fi stuff that's out there. I would recommend this for people both new and used to science fiction settings - you can't go wrong with this one.

This uniquely circus themed adventure is well written and the players have a lot of choices in playing it. The layout and artwork are pretty straight forward.

Good adventure with flair that stands out from the rest of the standard stuff.

This is a good dungeon crawl with clever traps and an interesting, fully fleshed-out setting. The maps are really well done as well. If you enjoy some classic D&D dungeoneering, this adventure is a couple sessions of good fun for under a dollar.

Doesn't get much better than ths!

This adventure is incredibly well written. The storyline is engaging and the narrative flows beautifully while seamlessly weaving through the richly detailed and interconnected web of the backstories while also moving the plot forward. The horror aspect maintains a balance between inducing fear and making sense. Its also easy to run as a DM. The art sets the right mood for this adventure.

Amazing. Totally recommend!

The Gleaming Cloud Citadel - 5e adventure

Golden Years - that's what this adventure reminds me of! I was taken back to my childhood, crawling through dungeons with magic in the air and mystery just around the corner. While this alone make this supplement worth buying for me, I feel I must list out its other merits as well - amazing cover art, fully fleshed-out NPCs to make life easier for the DM, homebrew spells, a logical and straightforward layout, and links to their website to download digital versions of the maps, and of course, the creativity and hard work put into this supplement. Some further enhancements like a print-friendly version and some tighter editing would definitely make this gem of an adventure shine better, but it already has so much going for it by balancing old-school charm and nostalgia with the refinement and elegance and polish of the current edition of the game.

Brilliant Adventure! ( Get that reference?)

Sellswords - A Dark and Gritty Campaign
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Linda W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/09/2018 03:25:03

This adventure has a lot of things going for it. The writing is taut, letting the action build slowly while keeping the emotions intense throughout, and finishing out in a blazing climax. The artwork sets a sombre mood with the right stylistic choices and a fine level of detail, using highlights and shadows to evoke the right feelings. The layout is concise, clear and uncomplicated. All of this is offered at an attractive price point too! Sure, a print-friendly version would have been nice, or maybe even a map or two - but why look a dusky, handsome Warhorse in the mouth?

If you are the kind of player or DM who likes mature, edgy and dark themes for their games, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Elminster's Guide to Divination

This supplement offers some spells and class options which look pretty cool. These would be fun to play at any table, especially if used with Elminster's guide to magic. The overall presentation is pretty neat and I enjoyed the little notes from Elminster, so bonus points for creativity to the authors. I haven't played these yet, so I cannot comment on the balance, but nothing looks too terribly game-breaking. Overall, this is a pretty creative book.

Temple of the Opal Goddess
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Linda W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/04/2018 02:14:50

The best thing about this adventure is the plot twists - they work so beautifully as written. This adventure also balances the normal tropes - road encounters, fighting Orcs, etc., with unique and interesting things - like the wonderful things in lower level of the dungeon, a  divine girlfriend and other innovative things. Sure, the writing could have been a little less wordy, but that does not take away from the creative and well thought-out story which lends itself well to different approaches and adapts accordingly so that there isn't much railroading. The presentation and artwork are pretty neat too.

The bottomline is that this is a pretty solid adventure!
