Foulness Beneath Mulmaster

The sewers beneath Mulmaster have always been dangerous, with countless stories of brigands, murderers, and worse that lurk beneath the streets of the City of Danger. But those stories pale in comparison to a new threat under Mulmaster, one brought to light by a strange and disturbing corpse recently found. It is up to you to learn the terrifying truth of what lurks below.

An adventure for 1st-4th level characters.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

Reviewas a player:

Incorporating a flumph was very well done as it allows lower players to see a monster that is not evil to hem instead of everything must die. The story hook was incredibly fun to go through but the battles were not very challenging or aggressive. a very good new player module. 4/5

The druid npc is still with the error on the damage when using shillelagh. Should be 1d8+2 instead is written 1d8

actually, all the monsters stats still are not corrected according to the MM errata. Is there a chance to see this fixed?

FYI, the introduction section on page 2 of the pdf states incorrectly that this is Eye of the Tempest and is for three to seven 5th-10th level characters and optimized for five 6th level characters.

I'm the author of this adventure, so I'd love to hear any reviews - whether they are good or bad!

Just finished playing this. I have a few thoughts. Good, bad, and one downright ugly. First the good. The bulk of the adventure is very fun. I am an unironic fan of flumphs so I was in heaven with the inclusion of them as prime players in the adventure. Even the newbies who had never heard of them were enthralled by them and got immediately invested in the sad lost love of the lady flumph we met. Combats were, for the most part, harsh but not unfair for a tier 1 party (perhaps made slightly easier by having a full party of 7, thus mitigating much of the drowning risks). I also really liked the thought put into the rp of choosing a side between the flumph or the "excavators" (Despite their evil intentions reading fairly clearly to experienced players). However, there were a few parts that felt off. Firstly there's really no good reason given for characters of any sort to get involved in the mission other than "Because the watch said so". Not even a paltry payment for their time. ...See more

Hi Eli, I'm glad that for the most part you enjoyed the adventure, and I'm glad that the players had such a positive reaction to Laal and her plight. To address some of your concerns. I chose the opening to reinforce the theme that Mulmaster is a very oppressive place, and I thought that natural curiousity (or a deal with the cultists) would propel the PCs into the dungeon itself - perhaps I should have added a bit more motivation to that part! To address your concerns about the magic item; though I don't mind the occasional cursed item, I was asked to add that item to the adventure, though it's trait was the inspiration for the kuo-toa tomb. That said, I don't know why it was added; I know AL DMs can't simply swap it out, but I hope people who run this adventure for their home games make any necessary changes if they share your feelings!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
