Drums in the Marsh

For the past several nights, drums have been heard on the wind, coming from the Twilight Marsh. Each morning, more turn up missing from the nearby farms, leaving only muddy, clawed foot prints heading towards the marsh. Can you help find the lost and bring justice to the abductors?

An adventure for 1st-4th level characters.

DDEX1-7 5E

Also included in the purchase of this adventure is a version specially converted for use with the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop software. The converted adventure features all the text from the original adventure, plus four maps (three new and one redrawn from the original adventure) to facilitate online play. The adventure includes cross-linking of monsters, spells, magic items, equipment, and story elements, plus the powerful rules automation for which Fantasy Grounds is known.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

Okay most of my players want to know where is the stair?....e. Clawed
footprints cover the dirt floor. A successful DC 14 Intelligence (Investigation) check reveals that the cows were led out of the barn and down the Renons’ path towards the stair.....

Good adventure though wish the persistent drums effected the players. The investigation aspect seems to blatantly say lizard folk so seems un usually long.

The final encounter being presented as a straight forward fight after going though a large "theatrical" engagement can make it very awkward to set up properly.

Can the Fantasy Ground maps be used for other things like roll20? I want to buy for the maps but not in FG...

Is there a way to highlight and make note on an iPad? It keeps asking for an owner password

I'm running this adventure this week in AL. Officially is it a 2 hour or 4 hour adventure?

It must be 4. It takes a while.

My group happened to have a lizardfolk character among them, and they had a blast making plans around him, such as disguising him as a member of the various clans to infiltrate them. Because of this, they also quickly determined that the farms were raided by lizardfolk — they just compared their comrade's foot to the trails — and were puzzled why the adventure provided such a large investigative chapter when the goal was to arrive at such an obvious conclusion.

The final part felt somewhat light on DM directions — I just winged it and used my own best judgment to resolve the players' actions on the island.

Finally, some of them thought that the toad encouter came out of the blue and felt like filler not adding much to the adventure.

Overall it's not the best module I've run, but it's perfectly serviceable. A solid 4/5.

Bought it on Dms guild login. I don't know how to merge them.

Stars: 4/5

I like the whole setting buuuuut it takes a long time and the first half feels super useless. Why investigate at all instead of going after the drums and into the march? My players felt like nothing they did in the first half mattered after they got to the swamp. Also the last section gives very little guidance to the DM so if you are uncompfortable with just going with the flow and improvising as a DM, maybe pick another adventure. It is also hard to tell the players what is going on in that part, without pushing them in one direction or to do one thing. Take your time prepairing that part if you like to give your players a truly free choice. Also be prepaired to have players to tlak about possible solutions for 2h at the end. If you have little time, maybe pick another too. I led it once and then played it, i must admit the other DM did it much better than I did and I feel like it is a good idea to play it once...See more

This adventure was a lot of fun to run. Unfortunately I had a party that decided that they wanted to kill literally everything that was hostile so it was hard to run the adventure probably as intended but made do anyway. 5/5 would play!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
